Ann was born in 1854. She is the daughter of Joseph Soulsby and Ann Giles.

In the 1861 census Ann (age 9), Scholar, was the daughter of Joseph Soulsby in Colliery Houses, Seaton Burn, Weetslade, Tynemouth, Northumberland, England.[1]
