Biography

Roll of Honor
Sir John (Somerville) Somerville Ist of Cambusnethan was killed in Action during the War of the League of Cambrai at the Battle of Flodden Field.

John was the son of John Somerville and Mariota Baillie.[1]

He married Elizabeth Carmichael, daughter of John Carmichael of Balmeadie[2] mistress of James V, at Edinburgh, on the 3rd of July 1489.[3] They had issue:

  2. William, of Tarbrax[2]
  3. Mary[2]
  4. Margaret, m. John Nisbet of Dalzell[2]
  5. a daughter, m. John Hamilton of Newton[2]

John Somerville was killed at the Battle of Flodden on 9 Sep 1513.
