Carrie (Somers) Smith is a part of US Black heritage.

Birth and Family

Carrie Sumner is a 3 y.o. child, daughter of William H. Sumner and Laura Eva (nee: Paker) Sumner. Note: in 1920 their name is spelled Summer.Her father is a laborer in the Navy Yard. In 1920, Carrie was one of six siblings, all born in Virginia.

Their mother, Laura Eva died of pneumonia with a contributing factor of childbirth on 28 February 1920. Note: There is no indication of whether the infant lived.^[2]

Carrie Somers (spelled Sumner in the 1930 Census) is a 13 y.o. girl living with her grandparents Olvin and Phortney Parker. Her 11 y.o. brother, William, is also living with them. ^[3]
