Still looking for any ideas on how to trace Nehemiah's origins in England. My great uncle Walter Burgess Smith, our family genealogist who had been conducting reseach, passed away in 1995. He did leave some clues.

We know Nehemiah had a brother, John, who had land confiscated during the civil war in England during the 1640s before he came to America. Through the National Archives in London and on British History online I have found several John Smiths who had property seized. My plan is to visit the archive to check these records for the names of the towns in which John resided, then see if Nehemiah's name pops in any of these towns records or parishes. Any ideas are appreciated in helping solve this long standing family mystery.
