Richard Smith was born 4d 3m 1702 [4 May 1702] (last digit not visible in digital image).[1][2] He was the son of Judah and Mary Smith.[1][3]
He married Dorothy Potter, daughter of Stokes Potter of Dartmouth, on 24d 12m 1730/1 [24 Feb 1731].[3]
He was noted as residing in The Oblong in Dutchess County, New York in 1755 when he was enumerated in an census of Quakers in regard to service in the militia.[4] His profession was that of a farmer.[4]
