David Smith was born in 1868 in Belfast.^[1]

David Smith and Harriet Shields, of Belfast, were married on 24 March 1894.^[2]

In 1901, David Smyth, 32, was living in 'house 10' in Balmoral Street (St. Anne's, Antrim) along with his wife Harriett Smyth, 29. Their children, Mary Anne Smyth, 6, Harriett Smyth, 1, and David Smyth, 3, were also living with them. ^[3]

In 1911, David Smyth, 42, was living in house 5 in Balmoral Street (St. Anne's Ward, Antrim) along with his wife Harriett Smyth, 40. Their children, Mary Ann Smyth, 16, David Smyth, 14, Harriett Smyth, 11, Edward Smyth, 7, Margret Stuart Smyth, 4, and Alfred Smyth, 2, were also living with them. ^[4]

Research Notes

At some point they transitioned to using Smyth instead of Smith but it doesn't seem to be a clean transition. David was registered as Smith and signed his marriage certificate as Smith.
