Robert was born about 1803 in Yorkshire, England. He enlisted in the Honourable East India Company St Helena Regiment 31 Mar 1825 and arrived on Saint Helena[1] 1826 on board the ship 'Lord Lowther'.
15 Nov 1930 - Gunner Robert Smith of St Helena Artillery and Widow Mary Broster were married in the Town Church by banns.
