Engineer, artist, and writer. Son of Francis and Susan Teachle Smith and great-grandson of Francis Hopkinson-218, poet and signer of the Declaration of Independence for New Jersey.[1]
Smith designed the foundation for the Statue of Liberty as well as many breakwaters in the surrounding area, including that of Block Island. [2]
