Biography

I was born in Kansas City, Missouri. My interests are varied, but currently I am most involved in genealogy and quilting...oh, and I would travel at any opportunity. I love making things and would be very happy if I could make my tree more complete!

In my creative lifetime(s) I have been a seamstress, writer, photographer, designer, crafter, traveler and of course, the creative roles of daughter, sister, wife, mother, friend. I am a lover and a peacemaker, a seeker who loves an adventure. Searching for ancestors and family history certainly qualifies.

I have been off and on with genealogy for years. Back at it and trying out WikiTree. Always so much to absorb and comprehend. I have done Ancestry DNA. I use Roots Magic and I think my tree will be posted here soon. I am also on Ancestry, for now.

I have a brick wall at Charles Kemper Smith...always thought he was my grandfather, but have learned he was not. His wife (and my grandmother) was Nora SONGER. I would love to find out who my grandfather really was!

Happy hunting!

Hi again,

I sent you a message a couple of weeks ago on behalf of the Germany Project and have not yet heard back from you. I hope you are well!

If I don’t hear back from you by the end of April, I will assume you no longer wish to be a member of the Germany Project and I’ll go ahead and remove you from our member roster. You are, of course, welcome to rejoin at any time via our G2G sign-up post.

Best wishes,

Traci ~ Germany Project co-leader

Hi,

The Germany Project Leaders are doing their semi-annual check-in with all project members and we want to verify that you’re still interested in being a member of the Project. Please respond by private message and let me know.

REMINDERS: (1) We use Google Groups for project collaboration and you aren’t yet a member of the group, please submit a join request here (make sure to add your name/WikiTree ID to the request). (2) I see you've added German_Roots (our old project name) to your G2G tags, you should also add GERMANY to your followed G2G tags so you don't miss any discussions in G2G (see: Help:Tags#How_to_follow_tags Help:Tags).

Are you currently working with one of our Sub-projects or Teams? If not, take a look at our main Project page for a full list. We recently launched a new Profile Improvement Team and are seeking new team members. Let me know if you’re interested.

We really appreciate your contributions on WikiTree, and thank you for all your hard work. If you have any questions, please ask. We would also love to hear any feedback you may have for the project.

I look forward to hearing from you soon!

Thanks for the Smith well-wishes! It's definitely a challenge. Did your brother have any sons? Maybe they could do a YDNA test to help crack the case!

Michael Maranda will give you a badge and a logo to put on your profile. After I see (or hear of) the progress on the Maps as means of informing us, you'll likely have discovered something else you'll want to do.
Valerie, hi, a couple of quick things, because life's happening here today!

Please use the pull-don columns to see what they do for you. First, the error report (col. 2) is run each Monday. TheProjects within Wikitree are in the FIND column, so please go there to find out what Jewish Roots project is generally doing. I'm interested in you and yr husband working on creating a covey of maps showing regions of the world where Jews lived before the various pogroms. 2. During and after Hitler, the maps showing the Reich's camps for Jews. If this interests you, please go to the project called Holocaust to ask the most active leader if we can also list the same places and ask if there's a region of the world that hasn't been covered. If you find something, we can use it & give info to them.

G2G: yesterday I saw someone asking a Q about maps. So please check there. Several people on Wikitree are excellent informants (& long time Wikitree-ers). But if you do a search on internet (not W-tree), for "historic maps of . . . X", you're almost sure to come up with what you need. X is the areas you think you need to search.

This is an amazing and long family!! I'm hoping you've vetted each person.

What about your husband? Does he have a tree all his own? His Jewish Roots and an interest in searching it would be a fine addition to our Jewish Roots project, which I started about 3 months ago. We have about 20 members. Perhaps both of you would be interested in Joining JRproject? If so, please go to the project (it's on a pull down list in some right-hand of page suggestions.) I'm eager to find people who "know something, but not everything" and will help others in their work.

I looked at your search for family and I may?? be able to help with your quest at least part of it. The Hutsell's and Smith's lived close to each other in Missouri. 3 Hutsell siblings married 3 Smith siblings. I have found Smith -111813 and Hutsell -149 , my 2nd great grandparents. Then great aunt and uncle's Hutsell -153 and Smith-112204. Hutsell 153 died fairly young and Smith married again. Hutsell- 154 married Smith-112720. It had my head swimming for awhile...Smith-111816 was their father. There are quite a few family photos on Ancestry that will help confirm, that is if the proverbial shoe fits. Good luck on your journey...

Oh NO! I entered my birth year incorrectly and can't figure out how to fix that! If you see this, please let me know. It seems I can't do much without that change.

Thank yiou!

Hello! I have been off and on with genealogy for years. Back at it and trying out WikiTree. Always so much to absorb and comprehend. I have done Ancestry DNA. I use Roots Magic and will try to get my tree up here. It seems some of the info I have included here does not work to connect. So here I go to try to straighten it out. I am also on Ancestry.

I have a brick wall at Charles Kemper Smith. Always thought he was my grandfather, but have learned he was not. His wife (and my grandmother) was Nora SONGER. I would love to find out who my grandfather really was! Happy hunting, Valorie Webster
