Biography

Corp Franklin Smead served in the United States Civil War.
Enlisted: 22 Apr 1861

Franklin was born in 1842 to Timothy H. Smead and Mary E. At the beginning of the Civil War, Franklin enlisted and served 3 months in Company G of the 19th OVI. Franklin then enlisted in Company B of the 103rd OVI on 26 Jul 1862. He mustered out with the company on 12 Jun 1865 with a rank of Corporal. Franklin married Carrie P. Plummer on 29 Nov 1866 in Cuyahoga County. Carrie passed away before 1880. Franklin was a Printer by trade like his father. He passed away in 1918.
