James Wellington Siver was born 23 June 1844 in Pitcairn, St Lawrence Co, New York. He was the son of George Henry Siver and Eliza Ann Ostrander. He was 5’6” tall and had blue eyes, brown hair with a fair complexion.

James wed Sarah Elizabeth McAllister on 25 December 1861 in Pitcairn, New York. They had one daughter,

James joined the war effort enlisting in the NY 106th Infantry in 1862. He was wounded at the Battle of Cold Harbor and died 15 June 1864 on transport back to New York on the Daniel Webster Steamer.[1][4][5]
