Biography

Henri Charles Francois Simon was born about 1840-1845 at Switzerland. ^{[citation needed]}
Note:According to his death record he was the son of Jules Simon and Annet Unknown.

Henri Simon married Susan Harris in 1870 at Ardley, Oxfordshire, England. ^[1]

On 20 March 1871 Henri Simon age 26, arrived in Qld Australia on the Star Queen as an assisted immigrant with his wife, Susan Simon age 22, ^[2]
He settled at Lower Freestone Creek where he was a farmer primarily of wheat and was active in experimenting with disease proof vaieties of wheat. ^[3]

He also ran a small winery and was on one occasion fined for selling wine on a Sunday. ^[4]

Henri "Henry" Simon passed away 04 September 1902 at Upper Freestone, Queensland, Australia. ^[5]

On Thursday afternoon the death of Mr. Henry Simon, of Freestone, was reported. The deceased, who was 62 years of age, had been ailing for years from a weak heart. He had been laid up for eight weeks past, and though every attention was paid him it was of no avail.

The late Mr. Simon was a resident of the Freestone district during the past thirty-three years, and leaves a widow and family of three sons and four daughters to mourn their loss. Deceased was a Swiss by birth, and generally was regarded as a hardworking and honourable man. The funeral, it is announced, will move from St. Mark's Church at 1 o'clock- to-day. ^[6]

Henri "Henry" Simon may be linked to incorrect parents and his name may not be Charles Francois Simon. Charles Francois is not recorded on any of his children's birth records, or his death record, or his marriage record.
