Hello John, you wrote to me on Ancestry and left me this link. This is my Great Grandmother and I’m trying to add to my tree... Not sure how. I look forward to seeing your research on my family ancestors.

Hello and greetings to you Elizabeth. I would be very happy to help you in any way possible to put your family tree together on Wikitree and on Ancestry. You said that you think Lela is your great grandmother. I can direct you to her profile on Wikitree. From there you can trace the Dollar branch of your family tree as far back as William Dollar, patriot soldier of the Revolutionary War.

If you need help connecting Lela to you then let me know. First I will direct you to her profile and let you take a look at what has already been done. I have not researched the family of Lela. I can help you though if you need help.

Elizabeth I learned the family connection between you and Lela Dollar. I have made the connection for you on Wikitree. If you need to know how that was done I will teach you. It is very easy.

Thanks Teresa and I am so happy that you are ok. I have been researching today and have done some work on several profiles. Today I found a few maps that give a good look at the location of Cedar Island in Back Bay, Princess Anne County, Virginia. That is where our ancestor owned some land. It is not where his plantation was located. I am still searching for that. I am also looking for more information on our ancestor Williams Simmons and tie up some loose ends. I am trying to find the exact location of where his land was in Putnam County, Georgia. Good to get a message from you.

Hi, it's been a couple of weeks since asking if you wished to remain in the US Civil War Between the States Project. I'd appreciate you letting me know by the end of February if you desire to remain in the Project. If I haven't heard from you by then, I'll assume you no longer wish to participate. I hope to hear from you soon, thank you.

Hello Mary, I hope this response finds you in good health. Yes I do want to continue to support the US Southern Colonies Project. I have had some health issues that has made it a bit more difficult to focus on my love for genealogy. I am still most interested in the South Carolina or North Carolina aspect of the project. I made need a push from time to time to get going. Could you and the project give me some assignments to accomplish? I have plenty of free time and need to stay focused on something that will help not only me but others. Anything that you can recommend I will appreciate. Let me know what I need to do and what is needed for the project.

Thank you John, for the check in. I marked you as active. I am your team leader, so will try to come up with some assignments for you as soon as I can.

Hi John

I sent you a check-in message a week ago about the US Southern Colonies Project to ask you about your continued involvement but have no yet heard back from you. Do you still want to be in the project? You were going to work on Biographies. (I sent you a link of Biographies needed).

If I don’t hear from you by the same time next week I’ll assume that you’ve moved on to other things but you’re most welcome to re-join the project at any time.

Looking forward to hearing from you,

Hi John, I know you sent a message about biographies. Here is the WikiTree for biographies needed for Southern Colonies. https://www.wikitree.com/wiki/Category:US_Southern_Colonies_Project_Needs_Biography. I am about out tonight. But tomorrow, if you will look tomorrow, and see if any profiles there interest you for working up a biography. You may have to find sources also, if the ones on the profile are insufficient. Have no fear, I did look at the last link for a profile that was in the French and Indian War. The profile for Dollar is also good.

Thank you for offering to help.

If you have questions, just ask

John I still do not see an entry for you about what you are working on, that you feel are your strong points... HINT: I see you write Biographies, with researched sources?

Thanks

Mary here is another example of the work that I have done to improve profiles and work on biographies and other aspects of profiles. I have much interest in the military sections of a profile and weaving history into the life of the individual in the profile. https://www.wikitree.com/index.php?title=Dollar-135&public=1

I have Dollar ancestors as well. This one is not my direct line though. Here is my direct line. William Dollar, patriot soldier of the Revolution. 2nd Virginia Regiment, who lived for a period in Laurens District, South Carolina.

Hi John,

As you may have seen, we have been doing some restructuring in the US Southern Colonies Project and are now organising ourselves into different teams. We have also changed the criteria for membership. Please have a look at the new project pages, and let me know whether you would like to remain in the project and, if so, which team(s) you would like to be in.

Please can you also send me your e-mail address. I can then make sure you are introduced to your Team Leaders and are in the Google Group.

Please note that it is a requirement for membership in the US Southern Colonies Project that you respond to these check-ins. We’re really excited for the future of the project and hope that you decide to be a part of it with us moving forwards.

Many thanks,

Susie, US Southern Colonies Project Co-Leader

Hey John, T. Fortenberry sent you lots of Wlm Simmons Docs but your mailbox at hushmail is full!
John,

I have a lot of information on this group of Dollars. I am descended from William Dollar who married Mary Wilson who is the youngest Dollar. Contact me directly at [email address removed] and we can see what we can share. Here is a blog I wrote about William several years ago - https://genheirlooms.blogspot.com/2012/03/tracing-william-henry-dollar.html

On the 1860 Census, Althea Caroline Harris, yes I do have it in my offline information. I am looking into Richard West maybe being family. The only Harris info I have looked into is that her father was Samuel and mother Margaret (no maidenname). On the census dwelling numbers 623 would be Althea with the West family, but they are surrounded by McKissick/McKissack family dweling #'s 624,627 and 628, dwelling 625 is another West.
Thanks for the merging suggestion for the two Horace M. Jenkins. The death dates are so wildly different that I'd like to nail down the death date first. For all I know (right now) there may be a second Horace Jenkins who died in 1850 and who is linked to the incorrect parents.

I was missing the 1860 Census as I was searching for Althea Caroline Harris. I will get with the lady who posted R. McKissick in Polk Co, TN cemetery and see how she came up with it being Abrahams first wife. I will show her the link to Rosa as well. I am a member of the First Family of Polk County, TN, they have information on the Nave Family so will also get back with them and see what other info they may have as well.
Thank you for the message about Salathiel Dollar. I think you are right. With the youngest son Joseph being born 1858 in Georgia. I think Salathiel had to be still living about 1857? The profile was adopted by me. I am interested in the line because of the mother Hannah Prater. I am related to the Prater line.
