A correspondent who affirms that there were several inaccuracies in a previous report of this wedding, furnishes the following account.
The marriage of Mr. John Benjamin Brosnan (eldest son of Mr. J. Brosnan, of Acacia Creek, New South Wales) to Miss Elizabeth Mary Simmonds (fourth daughter of Mr. and Mrs. J. Simmonds "Belmont Villa", Walloon), took place at the Roman Catholic Church, Walloon, on Wednesday, the 26th June. The Rev. P. Brady (who very kindly arranged a nuptial mass for the occasion) was the celebrant.
The bride, who was given away by her father, was attired in a handsome costume of grey silk marquisette, trimmed with raised silk embroidery in white and silver; bodice arranged with yoke and under-sleeves of white silk shadow lace. She wore a beautiful hat of silver grey satin with white plumes. Her gold crescent brooch, and beautiful goid earrings set with diamonds were gifts from the bridegroom. The bride's gifts to the bridegroom were a gold chain and a Maltese cross. Miss Nellie Simmonds (sister of the bride) and Miss Maggie Brosnan (sister of the bridegroom) were bridesmaids. Miss Simmonds wore an effective costume of saxe blue, trimmed with raised silk and insertion,; stylish hat to match. Miss Brosnan looked charming in a cream silk costume; becoming hat with plumes. Miss Simmonds wore a gold chain and cross and Miss Brosnan gold earrings (gifts from the bridegroom). Mr. Peter Brosnan acted as best man and Mr. Edwin Bell as groomsman.
After the ceremony a reception was held at "Belmont Villa", the residence of the bride's parents, and some 50 guests were entertained, the usual toasts being honoured. An artistic three-tiered wedding-cake was much admired. Subsequently, Mr. and Mrs. Brosnan left Walloon by the Sydney mail train, en route for Tweed Heads and Killarney, where the honeymoon is being spent. The bride's travelling dress was a blue tailor-made coat and skirt and a beautiful brown hat. The presents were numerous and handsome and included several cheques.
