From 1778 to 1783 George Silverthorn was a private from Northumbland County on a list of Soldiers of the Revolution who received pay for their serves as Rangers on the Frontiers (Pennsylvania Archives, 5th Series, 4:597, 693, correcting 3rd Series, 23:277, which erroneously stated that they were from Bedford County.)
A certificate of Public Debt, Number 7312, in the amount of £1.10.0. was issued in the name of George Silverthorn for a tour of active duty in the Northumberland Militia, which he performed at an unspecified time during the Revolutionary War (Commonwealth of Pennsylvania, Pennsylvania Historical and Museum Commission, Bureau of Research, Publications and Records, Sate Museum Building, Harrisburg, Pennsylvania).
The 1810 Census shows George Silverthorn, aged 45 & over (born before 1767), and his wife, aged 26-44 (born between 1765 and 1784), living in Morris Twp., Washington Co., Pa. (p. 705).[1]
