Biography

Samuel was born to Jonathan and Lydia Allen Silsbey in Windham town, Connecticut Colony, on 4 Apr 1726.:[1]

Samuel Silsbey married Elizabeth Woodward in Windham on 5 Dec 1746.[2]

  • Samuel, b. 4 Nov 1755, soldier in the Revolution
  • Eusebius, b. 9 Feb 1758-9, m. Sally Grout, lived in Acworth, soldier in the Revolution

Samuel, together with his brother Henry and their families, removed to Acworth, New Hampshire in 1769, the year that town was settled.[4] There, Sam'l Silsbey was a civil servant, selectman (1774-77) and town clerk (1773-80) at Acworth during the Revolution. He was engaged in forwarding men and supplies while acting as selectman. Delegate to constitutional convention at Concord, NH, 10 JUL 1778 to frame NH State Constitution. A Silsby--Henry, Samuel, Jonathan, or Lasell--was one of Acworth's three Selectmen for 17 of the town's first 22 years. [4]
