Biography

Israel Moses Sieff, Baron Sieff was born on 4 May 1889. He was the son of Ephraim Sieff and Sarah Saffer. He married Rebecca Doro Marks, daughter of Michael Marks and Hannah Cohen, on 15 June 1910. He died on 14 February 1972 at age 82.

He was educated at Manchester Grammar School, Manchester, Lancashire, England. He graduated from Manchester University, Manchester, Lancashire, England, with a Bachelor of Commerce (B.Com.) He was invested as a Fellow, Royal Geographical Society (F.R.G.S.) He was president and director of Marks and Spencer Ltd. He was awarded the honorary degree of Doctor of Law (LL.D.) by Manchester University, Manchester, Lancashire, England. He was invested as a Fellow, Royal Anthropological Institute.

He was created Baron Sieff, of Brimpton in the Royal County of Berkshire [U.K. Life Peer] on 19 January 1966.
