DNA

  • A descendant of John Shortt (S-96), has had a "Y"DNA match to a descendant of this William Short (S-44), and to a descendant of William Short (S-56). There are several other DNA matches of Lineage VII of the Short DNA Project who were from Tipperary in Ireland. This lineage came from Ashley in Staffordshire in the 1500s and in the 1600s some migrated to Tipperary in Ireland while others migrated to United States. It would be most helpful if any other male Shorts who descend from this lineage would have a "Y" DNA test.

A descendant from this lineage had a "Y" DNA test done. They have had a match to several members of Lineage VII of the Short DNA project. It seems this family lineage had at least two branches that migrated to America and one branch that migrated to Ireland. If you are a descendant perhaps you would like to join our facebook group.
