Biography

Lydia was born in 1891 ^[1]. The 1939 registry gives her birthday as June 19. She was Helen Price's second child, born when she was 20. Lydia was baptized August 9, 1891, at the same time as her older sister Elizabeth Amelia. ^[2]She first appears in the census in 1901^[3], with mother Helen and sister Stella.

Lydia married her cousin, William Borrett, in 1911^[4]. In 1939, she is the manager of a boarding house on the Brixton Road with her husband, then totally blind. Her half-sister, Nellie Thumwood, is living with them.

Tucked in with the 1943 photo is a note by her sister Ivy, which reads "My beloved sister Lydia died on Friday October 18th 1968 at 6:30 p.m. buried on Friday October 25th in Hastings cemetery. No one can take her place. I shall always miss her. I loved her so much." ^[5]
