Biography
Colleen Shelby was born on December 24, 1820, in Anson, North Carolina. She married Jacob Gurley on November 30, 1837, in Coweta, Georgia. They had six children during their marriage. She died in 1880 in Mount Vernon, Texas, at the age of 60, and was buried there.

Coleen Shelby Gurley died on the same day as her son, David Mosley Gurley Sr. They share this headstone. Coleen was married to Jacob Gurley on November 30, 1827. Their children were: Andrew Jackson Gurley I, David Mosley Gurley Sr., Mary A Gurley, Hiram Warner Gurley, Henry J Gurley and Molly Gurley.
