Biography
Major Thomas Hart Shelby was the son of Isaac Shelby and Susannah (Hart) Shelby.
He married first, in 1812 to Mary McDowell, daughter of Major John McDowell. They had two children.
He married second in 1821 to Mary Ann Bullock, daughter of Edmund and Elizabeth Fontaine Bullock. They had six children.
He built his home "Grassland" in 1823.
