Johnnie Lee Sheffield was born in Sunflower County, Mississippi on December 28, 1899 to John M. Sheffield and Roberta Lee Stacks[1]. She married Felix Andrew McCaleb, Sr. about 1914. They had eleven children:

Johnnie passed away on 19 January 1984.[2] She and Felix are buried in the Winfield City Cemetery, Marion County, Alabama.[3]

Research Notes

Johnnie's birthplace is a bit of a quandry. After searching for months, no birth certificate has been found. When she was five months old, the family was living in Sunflower County, Mississippi. My father's birth certificate states that she was born "outside of Jackson". He told me that she was born along the banks of the beautiful Yazoo River. Maybe someday, a source will be found that can shed light on Johnnie's birth place.
