Biography

J.M. Sharpe, father of the Sharpe boys, of Hamilton township died suddenly last Wednesday. He was nearly 80 years old but was quite spry and nimble for his age and had started for his daughter's house about a mile and a half from his son J.J.'s walking across lots. About half way between the two places there is spring and it is presumed he stopped to take a drink as he was found stretched out by the spring in the attitude of a man trying to get a drink, his face lying partly in the water. When he did not returned at night the neighborhood was aroused and search made nearly all night before he was found.

The funeral services will be held today at the house of his son, J.J. Sharpe, Rev. Badger conducting the services and his body will be taken to Aplington for burial. Mrs. Sharpe was the father of Mrs. Newton (Susan) Parriott and Mrs. Robert (Margaret Jane) Wilson, of Washington township, Butler, county. Hampton Chronicle. ^[1]
