William Shallcross was born in Staffordshire, England.

William Shallcross was born in 1865 in Mow Cop, the son of George (coal miner) and Maria Shallcross.

Aged 16, William was a fustian cutter and lived with his parents and sister Deborah 12 in Tunstall Rd.

William married Sarah Jane Tomkinson in Congleton in 1883.

Aged 26 William was an iron stone labourer, married to Sarah Jane Tomkinson and still living with his parents in Tunstall Rd. They had a daughter Hannah Maria Shallcross ('Shallerip') b.1891. Also recorded in 1891 is nurse child Sarah Meakin b.1885

By 1901, aged 36 William was a blast furnace man and still lived in Tunstall Rd. He and Sarah Jane 38 had several children -

Ada Elizabeth May b.1895
Bertram b.1896
Alice b.1900

By 1911, aged 47, William was a blast furnace labourer and he and Sarah Jane 48 had another son Frederick -

Frederick b.1902

William's mother Maria 81 also lived with the family in Tunstall Rd.

William passed away in Staffordshire in 1921 aged about 56.

DNA

DNA matches of at least 14 c.M. have been found between descendants with 'Moss' and 'Tomkinson' surnames.
