Catherine was born in 1887. She was baptised with three of her siblings at Runcorn on 19 August 1889. She was the daughter of William Shallcross and Mary Brown.^[1][2]

She married John Owen on 8 September 1909 at All Saints, Runcorn.^[3][4]
