  • 1850 Census, Pennsylvania, Union County, Chapman Township, George H. Sheaffer, age 55, Farmer. No wife, but children still living with him are George age 21, Levi age 19 and Elias age 17. These three sons are Laborers. The rest of the family includes, Elizabeth, age 15, Phoebe A, age 13, Sarah, age 6, Hannah, age 5, Emma, age 3, Catharine, age 2, and Henry age 10/12. Everybody was born in Pennsylvania.
  • 1860 Census George, age 63, Elizabeth, age 60, and 17 year old Sarah, 14 year old Emma were the only ones in the home. George was a farmer and the family lived in Chapman Township, Snyder County, Pennsylvania
  • 1870 Census has the family down to three people, George, age 73 and a laborer, Elizabeth is now 70, and Sarah is 28. They live in Mt. Pleasant Mills, Perry Township, Snyder County, Pennsylvania. George dies two years later,
