Maria Phobe Sexton was born in 1825, in Windsor, Berkshire, England. In 1861, aged about 36, she resided at Pylwell Lane, Boldre, Hampshire, England. In 1871, aged about 46, Maria resided at Hinton Lodge, Hinton, Christchurch, Hampshire, England. In 1881, aged about 56, she was an Agricultural Labourer's Wife, and she resided at Brandshatch, Kingsdown In Dartford, Kent, England. Maria died in 1880/81, aged about 55.

John Dewey married Maria Phobe Sexton. They had two daughters: Emma Alma Dewey in 1856 Alice Dewey in 1860
