Henry was born in 1842 in Bolton, Lancashire, England, the son of Henry Seddon and Ann Schofield. ^[1] Henry Seddon, son of Henry Seddon & Anne Seddon, was baptised on 5 September 1842 in Bolton le Moors St Peter, Lancashire, England. At the time of his christening, the family was living in Great Bolton and his father was a Slater and Flagler.^[2]

In 1851, he was living with his parents and siblings in Bridgeman Place, Great Bolton. ^[3]
