Thomas Ichabod Sears, Sr. was born on January 14, 1795 in Cornveille, Somerset County, Massachusetts to Willard and Lois (Oaks) Sears.
Thomas married Mary "Polly" Head on September 16, 1817 in Canaan or Skowhegan, Somerset, Maine. She gave birth to Armina Sears on September 1, 1828 and Thomas Ichabod Sears, Jr. on July 11, 1830. Mary passed away from complications of childbirth on August 12, 1830, entrusting baby Thomas to the care of her dear friend, Mrs. Reed.
Widowed Thomas was left with a two-year-old daughter Armina to raise. He remarried on December 8, 1830. His next wife, Susan Head, was Mary's younger sister. Susan (Head) Sears bore him several children before she predeceased him.
Thomas Sears' third and final wife was Sarah Coffin, whom he married in 1845.
Thomas Sears was chosen to be Captain of Militia in 1830.
Thomas Sears passed away on June 28, 1878 in Wellington, Piscataquis County, Maine.
