Biography

William was born in 1868. His mother's maiden name was Reynolds. ^[1]

In 1871 William was living with parents William and Eliza plus 6 siblings and his Aunt Emma Reynolds and her daughter Fanny in 'Green Bottom' East Dean. His father was a labourer in a Colliery. ^[2]

In 1890 William married Miriam Thomas. Their marriage was registered at Westbury on Severn. ^[3] Miriam died in 1897.

In 1898 William married again, to Alice Hembs. ^[4]

In 1911 William and Alice were living with 8 children in Ruspidge. They had been married 11 years, had 13 children of whom 3 had died. William was a Collier, as was his older sons. ^[5]

In 1939 William was aged 71 and had retired. He lived with Alice and son Samuel at 108 Ruspidge Road, Ruspidge. ^[6]

William died aged 77 in 1945. His death was registered in the Forest of Dean. ^[7]
