Rosa A. Scott was born in August 1876 in New York, USA, daughter of Walter Scott and Racheal Thomas. She married a Mr. Riley some time between 1910 and 1920, according to the 1920 census when she was enumerated on the census as a widow.[1] She was back living with her father, who was also widowed.[1] She was working as a laundress.[1] However, according to the 1930 census, she first married at age 25 which would be closer to 1900.[2] She married a second time to Walter C. Cole.[2] They had a son, Raymond Cole, born about 1919.[2] Also living with the family in 1930 was her brother, Richard Scott, and a granddaughter of her husband, Stella R. Williams.[2]
