Ann Jane Scott is not the wife of John Welton nor the mother of the Welton children. Ann Jane Scott, Daughter of Henry (Scott) Scott First Earl of Deloraine K.B. and Anne (Duncombe) Duncombe Countess of Deloraine and

Sister of Francis Scott, Henry Scott, Georgiana Caroline (Scott) Peachey [half] and Henrietta Scott [half] is well documented to have died in infancy in England. Her parents and siblings remained in England for their entire lifetimes.

The wife of John Welton and Mother of Mary Jane (Welton) Renick, John Welton Jr, Jonathon Welton, Job Welton, Jesse Welton and Solomon Welton is probably from the Scott family of the South Branch, Augusta Co, VA ( abt 1698-1751). James Scott owned 400 acres on Looney's Creek In Petersburg, WV next to Job Welton (172 a),David Welton (373a) and John Welton (244a).

Job Welton witnessed James Scott's will probated 13 sept 1790.

I believe this is strong evidence.

I do not see enough evidence that Anne Jane Scott is in fact the daughter of Lady Anne Duncombe and Henry Scott. Does anyone have evidence that this is correct? It seems a stretch. And from what I've found so far, the daughter of Henry Scott died within the first few years of her life.
