Staff Sergeant Walter Schoer was aboard B-24 bomber, Satan's Hell Cat that was shot down near Polesti, Romania during World War II.
Walter was born 10 August 1909 in Silver Township, Iowa. He was the son of George Schoer and Ida Christiansen.[1]
Walter was a gunner aboard the B-24 Liberator bomber, Satan's Hell Cats (42-40995), participating in Operation Tidal Wave the low-level attack on the Romanian oil refineries at Ploesti on 1 August 1943. The bomber was shot down by German Fighter Ace. All onboard perished.
