Biography

Jacob was born 1654-1664 East Hampton, Suffolk, NY. He was believed to have married a Hannah Conklin(g) but she has been shown to be the person born 1692 Conkling-127 so obviously she was not the wife of Jacob Schellinger.

Conkling-127 states "Jacob Schellinger is said to have married Hannah, born 1666, the daughter of Zachariah and Elizabeth Sills Hicks."[1]

She is Hannah __________, her surname does not appear in "U.S., New England Marriages Prior to 1700."

His will mentions five daughters (not named) and sons Jacob, Daniel, Jonathan.

Children as per ancestry tree:

  1. Hannah 1693-1786,
  2. Catherine 1695,
  3. Mercy 1699-1749,
  4. Hester 1687- d. aft 1736
  5. Jacob 1702-1753,
  6. Abigail 1704-1724,
  7. Daniel 1710-1786,
  8. Jonathan 1712-1718. [2]

FAG lists: Hannah Conklin b. 1704 (again impossible for her to be as the person married Jacob at 1690) who married 1st Jacob Schellinger, at Abt 1690 resided in Wainscott. She married 2nd Edward Petty at Aug 30 1716 of Orient, LI. The listed parents: Benjamin Conklin(g) (1638 - 1709) Hannah Mulford (1645 - 1712) [3]
