Obituary

Linda Schell Burgin passed away on Tuesday, April 28, 2015 at J.F. Keever, Jr. Solace Center. She was born in Asheville to Margaret Roberts Schell and John Q. Schell, Jr. on November 8, 1949. She is survived by her husband of 42 years, William A. (Bill) Burgin; her two daughters, Connie Harris and Holly Burgin (Jeremy Spivey); grandson, Zachary Famous; granddaughter, Caroline Famous; a grandson to be born, and many loving aunts, uncles, cousins and friends. Her parents preceded her in death.

She graduated from Lee Edwards High School and the University of NC at Asheville. She received her Masters of Social Work degree from the University of NC at Chapel Hill in 1975. She worked as a school social worker at South French Broad Middle School and later as a therapist at the Blue Ridge Mental Health Center in Asheville. She went into private practice as a partner at Asheville Marriage, Family and Psychotherapy Associates in 1989.

Linda was a talented musician who began playing the piano and organ at Emmanual Lutheran Church at age 13. She served the last 18 years as the pianist for Abiding Savior Lutheran Church. She was an avid and award-winning gardner and a voracious reader. Linda loved her work as a therapist. Her many clients were an inspiration and a motivation for her during her illness. Her wish for her life was to be a blessing to others.

The family wishes to thank the staff at Mission Hospital ICU and at the Solace Center for their wonderful care. A memorial service will be held Saturday, May 2 at 2:00 P.M at Abiding Savior Lutheran Church in Fairview, NC. Groce Funeral Home on Tunnel Road is assisting the family.^[3]
