Dear Germany Project member,

it's annual check-in time 2023. If you still wish to remain a member of the Germany Project, please reply to this post, by stating this intention. If we don’t hear from you in the next 30 days, your membership badge will be removed. In this case please don't be offended ... you're welcome to rejoin at any time. Please also note, that in order to receive help, with researching your German ancestors, membership is not mandatory. Just ask your questions in the G2G forum and tag them with Germany in order for knowledgeable people to see them.

If you wish to remain a member, we would like to learn more about your perception of the Germany Project in order to achieve a future development according to our members needs and wishes. For this, we created a survey, which we kindly ask you to fill-in.

In case you want to communicate, discuss and receive help about WikiTree in German, you might want to check out the WikiTree category at Compgen’s Discourse as well as the German Discord server Ahnenforschung.

Of course there’s still the official WikiTree Discord server, where we usually talk English. Feel free to learn more about Discord and the server at Help:Discord.

Kind regards from Black Forest

Hi, Flo,

I do want to stay on the German projekt. As a lot of relatives of mine and as well from my former husband moved out to America, I try to document the bridges, and put in the sources. I adopted and sources quite a lot of profiles which were without profil manager, and are related. At the moment I'm working on a projekt to answer a post from an American member, to sort out her German bloodlines. As German villages were closely connected, I found at least eight common ancestors, so I look through my data-base and lay down here the branches from the point they differe from mine. If here are more people who are related to the family-group of "Schier" and "Scher" (two different familys but in America both named "Scheer") who went out to Cleveland, Cuyahoga County, Ohio, soon you will find more than a dozend branches of your origin in Zell, Merl, Kaimt and Briedel.

Hallo Susanne,

Flo

Susanne, thanks very much for adding the profile for Maria Feidt. I've never been able to connect my family back to Europe, so I'm always interested in new Feidt profiles. There are two branches that I know of. My branch (arriving in

Philadelphia circa 1750, Lutherans) and a Luxembourg branch, Catholics, arriving in the 19th century.

Hi Traci, I'm still interested, and busy putting my collected data in here. Mostly German families, as I am German. Some of the Banat lines I've marked with "German Roots" as well, but I couldn't get the origin of all lines, so some are unmarkt, because they could be Austrian or Swiss as well. I've put a request in for a pre-1500 allowance, do you know how long it takes before I know if I get it? In a book about the town Zell / Mosel I found some interesting lines of my family until before 1400, I would like to put them in. Greatings from Germany, Susanne Kube

Hello Susanne,

Thanks for creating pre-1700 profiles like Cecilia (unbekannt) Kox (abt.1680-), Anton Kox (bef.1632-1686), Johann Kremer (bef.1608-), Catharina (unbekannt) Kremer (aft.1610-), Konrad Carls (bef.1630-), Maria (Bender) Carls (bef.1632-), Alberta (Carls) Petri (1648-), Catharina (Feiden) Carls (bef.1645-abt.1666), and Catharina (Stienen) Carls (bef.1650-).

Please avoid leaving both the birth and death locations blank. For locations, our style guide says that almost any location is better than no location as locations help disambiguate similarly named people. So if you can please try to estimate the birth or death location (marking it as estimated) and then explain the basis for your estimation in a = = Research Notes = = section that would be very helpful.

For example, in the case of Cecilia, since her husband was born and died in Germany, it is reasonable to estimate that Cecilia died in Germany, however, I do not believe Germany existed yet, you probably want Holy Roman Empire, or Heiliges Römisches Reich.

Thanks.

-William

Hi Susanne,

Congratulations on certifying to work on pre-1700 profiles! It’s very important to read and understand https://www.wikitree.com/wiki/Help:Pre-1700_Profiles. These profiles for deep ancestors are shared by many, and collaborating on them works best if we all follow the guidelines laid out on that page.
