Biography

Lt-Gen William Frederick Scarlett, 3rd Baron Albinger, Companion of the Bath, was born in 1826. He was the son of Robert Scarlett and Sarah Smith.

William married Helen, daughter of Commander Magruder of the US Navy, in 1863.[1]

William served in Crimea and was a Knight of the Order of Medjidie. He joined the Scots Guards retiring in 1882 and was Commander General of the West London infantry volunteer brigade from 1888, and honorary colonel of the Middlesex Royal Volunteer force from 1889.

William held a Doctor of Law from Invernessshire and served as Justice of the Peace for Surrey.

In 1890 William was said to be residing at 46 Cornwall Gardens, SW London; and at Inverochy, Kingussie, Inverness. He was also a member of the Carlton Club.

Lord Abinger passed away in 1892.[1] He was buried at Crags Cemetery, Fort William, Invernessshire.[2]
