Leo was born on February 2, 1923 in St Petersburg, FL[1].
In 1941 Leo graduated from St. Petersburg High School [2] just as his mother had done in 1920.
By the end of 1948 Leo completed his pilot's training through the Polling Flight Service company[3]and received his commercial pilot's license.
Leo met his first wife, Juanita, while he was in training at Fort Campbell, Kentucky. They were married by O.L. Gibson, Pastor of the 1st Baptist Church in Fayetteville, AR on April 11, 1944 [4] Two sons, Jimmy and Larry, were born to this union before their divorce on February 14, 1958 [5].
Leo married again just a few months later to Frances, a woman who he had known and dated before he was drafted into the Army during World War II. Their wedding was held on May 2, 1958 in the 1st Congregational Church of St. Petersburg, FL by Dr. Aaron Meckle [6]. Two daughters, Jeannette and Laurie were born over the next 5 years. In addition to his two daughters, he adopted Donna Lee, Frances' daughter from her first marriage.
In February 1942, Leo was drafted into the US Military and completed boot camp at Camp Blanding at Starke, FL. During his enlistment his occupational specialties included being both a radio operator and repairman. He received his honorable discharge on March 31, 1946.
Leo joined the Civil Air Patrol in 1952.
By June 1946 Leo's Radio Service was open in St Petersburg, FL and continued operation in Pinellas county until 1974 when he moved the business to Hernando County.
He passed away on January 15, 2007 in Hendersonville, NC[7].
