Biography


While Burke (1880) and Mosley (2003) call Saxby, "Sir Thomas of Northampton," he's called "John" by Nichols (n.d.), Goodacre (2017), and various works by Richarson (2004-211).[1]

Richardson (2004-11), also asserts that John was a merchant stapler of Calais, born in England c. 1445.[2]

No parents, spouse, date of death or burial location is given by the secondary sources listed in this profile.[3]

There are, however, entries for a Thomas Saxon in the Northampton Borough Records:

  • 1428 AD: entry for Thomas Saxon, mercer.[1]
  • 1445 AD: " Thomas Saxby.[2]
  • 1458 AD: " Thomas Saxby, mercer.[3]
  • 1462 AD: " Thomas Saxby.[4]
