There were at least 6 men named John Savage living in New England in the latter half of the 17th century. John Savage from Rehoboth, Massachusetts, (Savage-3188) is often confused with John Savage of Middletown, Connecticut, (Savage-116). They were the same age within about 5 years. Married within ten years of each other. Both Savage families had 3 children with given names that matched children in the other family. Many profiles show John of Middletown being married to Sarah Bowen (of Rehoboth, MA). This isn't the case.
John of Middletown is known to have married Mary Ranny on 30 May 1682 in Middletown, Connecticut. John and Mary had their children between the years 1683 and 1706. All children were born in Connecticut and have the same mother, Mary Ranney.
John Savage of Rehoboth was married to Sarah Bowen on 16 May 1672 in Rehoboth.[1]Their children were born between the years 1672 and 1678. All children were born from Sarah Bowen in Rehoboth, MA.[2]
_______
John Savage was in Rehoboth by May 26, 1668 when lots were drawn for the meadow lands in the North Purchase.[3][4] Before Rehoboth nothing is know of him. He may have been born in England. He would have been at least 21 in 1668 so born 1647 or earlier.
John advanced money, £2. 6. 10, for King Philips War.[5][4]
John Savage was buried in Rehoboth 22 Aug 1678.[6]
His inventory was taken on 20 of the sixth month 1678. Sarah Savage, his widow made her oath to the truth of the inventory on 3 January 1678. No children are mentioned.[7]
A 1689 list of inhabitants and proprietors of Rehoboth includes the Heirs of John Savage.[4] The Bristol County Deed indexes at Family Search do not list any appropriate Savages, Sutliffs, or Braymans.[8]

Savage-116 and Savage-3188 do not represent the same person because: There appear to be two separate John Savages, one from Middletown, CT and one from Boston, Ma. I am removing the parents of Savage-3188 as they appear incorrect.
