Burt Sault was born in the Colony of New South Wales (1788-1900)
Burt was born in 1899 in Grafton, New South Wales. He was the son of Frank Sault and Charlotte McNutt.

He volunteered for military service during the First World War, and was stationed in Europe. At the time of his enlistment, he gave his occupation as school teacher. Returned to Australia 25 September 1919.
