Biography
Foulk, or Fulk, is recorded as the son of Robert ap Thomas Hen Salusbury, of Llanrwst, and his wife Gwenhwyfar ferch Rhys ab Einion Fychan.[1][2] Lloyd's History of Powys Fadog describes him as their "eldest son, Ffoulke Salusbury of Plas Isaf in Llanrwst".[2]
His father died before 1546, when his mother was named in an award for a legal dispute as Gwenhwyfer ferch Rhys ap Eignon, late wife of Robert Salesbury the elder, late of Llanrwst, deceased.[3]
Foulk had two wives: (1) Sybil or Elen ferch John Hen Puleston,[1][2] and (2) Annes ferch William ap Gruffudd.[1]
Research Notes
Burke's The Royal Families of England, Scotland, and Wales records him as "Foulk Salusbury ... son of Thomas Salusbury, of Lleweni, co. Denbigh, Esq."[4] This appears to be incorrect. Thomas Salusbury, of Lleweni, is generally accepted to be his grandfather.[1][2]
