Biography

Fred Salisbury was born in the Colony of Victoria (1851-1900)

Fred John Salisbury was born on October 31, 1888 in Richmond, Colony of Victoria, son of Benjamin Mutch Salisbury (1862 - 1939) and Jane Jones (1863 - 1946).^[1]

He was baptised at St Stephen's Church in Richmond on November 25, 1888.^[2]

Fred married Ruby Amelia Radford (1891 - 1966) on January 10, 1911.^[3]

Together they had the following children:

In 1912 he was a member of the Victoria Police Force and working as a foot constable, stationed at Russell Street, Melbourne^[4]. By 1937 he had left the force and was working as a tramway employee.

In 1915 Fred and Ruby looked after Fred's eleven year old sister Nellie for six months whilst his parents Benjamin and Jane made a visit to the the "homeland" to visit Benjamin's aging parents.^[5]

The original photograph was taken in 1913 when Benjamin's brother John returned to England to visit his parents.

Fred died on July 4, 1958 in Brunswick aged 69.^[6] His ashes were placed in a niche at Fawkner Memorial Park.^[7]
