Biography

Reginald was born on 19 February 1908 at the family home at 1 Pauls Road, Waterloo. He was the son of Benjamin Sadler and Florence Cook. His father was recorded as a 25 year old candlemaker. His 22 year old mother Florence registered the birth and had Reginald with her when she did.^[1]

Reginald married Irene Timms on 16 May 1931 at St Michael's Church, Hurstville according to the rites of the Roman Catholic Church. Reginald was recorded as a fitter and machinist living at 103 Bellevue Parade, South Hurstville. Irene was recorded as a stenographer residing at 76 Arthur Street, Kogarah, Sydney, NSW.^[3]

Reginald was in a military record in 1939-1948 in Sydney. Their service number was 32267.^[5] Reginald David Sadler's military identity photograph can be viewed through the National Archives of Australia defence files online. The recommendation for release of Air Force personnel for Sgt Reginald David Sadler of the 13 ARD RAAF Charters Towers who had enlisted on 7 July 1940 was approved on 6 October 1945. This was to enable him to return to his work as an iron machinist with the Department of NSW Raliways.^[6]

Reginald David Sadler a machinist, his wife Irene Estelle Sadler a stenographer and his daughter Doreen Margery a clerk of 1 Selwood Street, were registered to vote in 1954 in Rockdale, Barton, New South Wales, Australia.^[7]

Reginald and Irene were living at 5 Windsor Road, Padstow when he passed away on 17 January 1960 at Royal Prince Alfred Hospital, Camperdown. He was cremated on 19 January 1960 at Woronora Crematorium.^[8][9]
