Wilhelm Conrad Röntgen was a German physicist who, on 8 November 1895, produced and detected electromagnetic radiation that today is known as X-rays. In 1901 he was awarded the first Nobel Prize in Physics for his discovery. He is considered the father of diagnostic radiology.
He married Anna Bertha Ludwig at age 26 on 19 January 1872 in Apeldoorn, the Netherlands. Their marriage records lists their parents: Wilhelm's were Friedrich Conrad Röntgen and Charlotte Constance Frowein and Anna's were Johan Gotfried Ludwig and Elisabeth Gschwind.[1] Wilhelm and Anna had no children of their own, but they adopted Anna's brother's daughter, Josephine Bertha Ludwig at age 6, after her father had died in 1887.[2]

We plan on featuring Wilhelm in the Connection Finder alongside Alfred Nobel, the Example Profile of the Week, on October 21st. Between now and then is a good time to take a look at the sources and biography to see if there are updates and improvements that need made, especially those that will bring it up to WikiTree Style Guide standards. We know it's short notice, so don't fret too much. Just do what you can. A Team member will check on the profile Tuesday and make changes as necessary.
Thanks! Abby
