Biography

John Sincock Rowse aka Rouse was born in Oct 1818 in Brea, near Camborne, Cornwall, England to Edward Rowse and Anne (Sincock) Rowse.

John Sincock Rouse, son of Edward, a cordwainer, & Ann, residing in Brea, was christened on 21 Nov 1818 at St Martin and St Meriadoc in Camborne.^[1][2]

John's father passed away in 1822, and his mother married James Roberts in 1824. John's mother Anne Roberts passed away in 1828.

John Rouse married Avis Thomas in 1841. The marriage was registered in Truro, Cornwall in the first quarter of the year.^[3]

John and Avis emigrated to Canada shortly after their marriage.

John and Avis had at least eight children:

In 1851 John Rouse (age 34, Miller) lived in Camden East, Addington, Ontario with his wife Avis (34) and four children: Ann (8), Priscilla (1 [5]), Anthony (4), and John (2).^[4]

In 1861 John Rowse (age 43, Merchant) lived in East Whitby, Ontario with his wife Avis (43) and four children: Ann (17), Priscilla (15), Edward (6), and Oliver (3).^[5]

John Rowse passed away on 21 Dec 1869 in Columbus, Ontario - he was 51 years old; his occupation was merchant; he was born in the County of Cornwall, England.^[6]

He is buried at Columbus Methodist Cemetery in Columbus, Ontario with his wife and six of their children:^[7]
