Friday, September 26, 1969 The Daily Review Headline: Construction Volunteers Story (there was a picture included) Residents of the southern section of Newark are donating time and labor helping in the construction of the city's newest park, unofficially named Ash Street Park and Playground. Al ROWE, of 37061 Spruce St., Newark, one of the volunteers, is busy with hammer and nails on the roof of one of the buildings. __________________________________________________________________________ ____ From a Silverton, OR (or Molalla, OR) newspaper: Alvin ROWE, 35, a cement contractor and former Siverton resident, had a third heart attack in December. He was released from the hospital Janury 11. Mr. ROWE and his wife, Pat, and their two daughters, Peggy and Pam, live in Newark, California. Mr. ROWE's sister and her husband, Mr. and mrs. Derick Hillman, Molalla, took Mr. ROWE's mother, Mrs. Richard Lantz, also of Molalla, to see him. Mrs. lantz remained two weeks in California. Alvin entered Stanford University Hospital on January 27 for open heart surgery on Jan. 29. Mr. ROWE has another sister, Mrs. Clinton Adkins, and two brothers James and Marvin all of Molalla. ***Peggy makes these corrections: Alvin ROWE was a cement MASON. This article was written after his second heart attack not his third. And he was released from the hospital on January 15th, not the 11th as described above. Mrs. Gibboney's cousin, Ronald Eugene Horton, retired from teh Navy on Feb. 27 and is at the Gibboney home nwo. A family dinner was held for all the family, with about 40 present. A ceremony honored Ronald's 25 year retirement. Ronald aluted teh American flag as it was being raised. Rowe, son of Mr. and Mrs. Orvin E. Rowe, Rt 1., Silverton, has been assigned to the 3rd Infantry Division in Germany as an ammunition handler in Service Battery of the divisions 9th Artillery. Rowe, a former Silverton Union High School student, entered teh ARmy in December 1958, and arrived in Europe last July. ******************************************************************8 Alvin Rowe Married In California Alvin C. Rowe, son of Mr. and Mrs. O. E. Rowe, and Miss Patrica L. Coop were married June 23 at the home of the bride's parents, Mr. and Mrs. Earl Coop at Hayward, California. The groom who is based at Fort Ord, Calif. brought his bride to Silverton on the honeymoon to meet his parents. They also spent two days at the coast at the home of his brother Marvin. While here the newlyweds were honored at a shower held at the O.E. Rowe home. Those attending were Mr. and Mrs. Bill Homer and Mrs. Reta Weaver of Salem; Mr and Mrs. Al Crawford of Mt. Angel; Mr. and Mrs. Alton Hice and sons of Aumsville; Mrs. Bryan McClaskey, Bill McClaskey, Mrs. Pearl Weaver, Mr. and Mrs. Kenneth Burk, Mr. and Mrs. Neal Moon and daughters, Jeand and Joan, Alfred Rowe, Barbara Robertson, Jim and Richard Rowe and Maurita and Alveta Rowe.
