Dan, you are correct. Ancestral Roots of Certain American Colonists Who Came to America before 1700, Eighth Edition, Frederic Lewis Weis, Genealogical Publishing Company, Baltimore, MD, 2004, gives his father as Giselbert, Count of Roucy. Line 151-20, p. 146. Giselbert connects to Charlemagne’s line at 140-18, p. 134. He is a great great great grandson of Charlemagne.
