Biography

Lena Rorie was born in January 1871 in Mississippi to William Hezekiah and Daisy Rorie. In 1880, she resided in Waterford and Evans, Marshall County, Mississippi.

By 1900, Lena had moved to Lonoke, Lonoke County, Arkansas, where she worked as a teacher. On June 9, 1903, she married widower William Nicholas Bransford. William passed away on May 2, 1908, in Lonoke, Arkansas, leaving Lena with one son from their marriage.

Following William's death, Lena applied for a war pension for her husband's service in the Confederacy on October 21, 1907. In 1910, she continued to live in Lonoke, Lonoke County, Arkansas, where she also worked as a teacher.

By 1920, Lena had relocated to Memphis, Shelby County, Tennessee, where she worked as a school teacher in the public school system. However, by 1930, she had returned to Lonoke, Lonoke County, Arkansas, where she resided through 1940.

Lena passed away around 1949 in Lonoke County, Arkansas. She was laid to rest at Lonoke Cemetery in Lonoke, Lonoke County, Arkansas.
