Biography

Patrick Rooney, age 24, emigrated to South Australia on the Peeress, arriving at Port Adelaide on 7 Nov 1866. ^[1]

He married Bridget O'Keefe 26 Oct 1874 St Agnes Church, Marrabel. ^[2]

He passed away age 65 in 1906. ^[3]

MR, PATRICK ROONEY, KAPUNDA.

Our Kapunda correspondent writes:

I regret having to announce the death of Mr. Patrick Rooney, who died last Wednesday morning at his residence near the Morning Star, Kapunda, at the age of 65 years, after one week's illness, the cause of death being the fatal disease pneumonia. Mr. Rooney had been in the employ of the Kapunda District Council since 1888, having for many years prior to that date been a stationman under the Midland Road Board, which was abolished in the year mentioned. Mr. Rooney proved himself an exemplary employee of the Council, and was generally recognised as one of the best authorities on roadmaking in these parts. The deceased leaves a wife and one son and a daughter to mourn their sad loss, and he will be very much missed by a large circle of friends. His funeral took place last Thursday afternoon, and was largely attended, about 40 vehicles following the hearse to St. John's Cemetery, where his remains was buried. The Very Rev. Father Williams officiated at the grave. R.I.P. ^[4]
